Dwelling in Possibility and Joy
Dwelling in Possibility and Joy
I practice { P A U S E } inJoy as a way of life—a lived relationship with spiritual consciousness and life-force energy, centered in joy.
Lineage & Gratitude
I hold deep gratitude for the origins of this way of life in the teachings and practice of Mikao Usui, and for the teachers who have carried this work forward. I am especially grateful for my teacher, Patti Penn, founder of { P A U S E } inJoy. Her devotion to this path, and years of guidance, have profoundly shaped both my personal life and how I show up in the world.
I remain deeply connected to the { P A U S E } inJoy lineage through ongoing practice, study, and community. My relationship with my teacher and this work is alive and present, rooted in humility, gratitude, and continued listening.
About Ani
I am a { P A U S E } inJoy Reiki Master Teacher, sound practitioner and mediator, based in Lamorinda, California, where I live with my husband and four children.
Born to Bangladeshi immigrants in Connecticut, I spent over fifteen years in Los Angeles before settling in the San Francisco Bay Area. Motherhood became the doorway that led me more deeply into this path — not as a profession, but as a lived practice of presence, trust, and inner knowing.
Between 2011 and 2020, I was attuned through all four levels of { P A U S E } inJoy Reiki: Reiki I, Reiki II, Reiki Master Practitioner, and Reiki Master Teacher.
I hold a Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Connecticut. These paths — law, parenting, and spiritual practice — inform how I move through life.
Reiki & the { P A U S E } inJoy Path
Reiki is the union of spiritual consciousness and life-force energy. While often described in the West as an alternative healing modality, Reiki originated as a philosophy — a way of knowing oneself and living in alignment.
The practice of the { P A U S E } inJoy path, becomes a compass. It is a way of tuning in — to Spirit, to subtle energy, and to what returns us to joy and our path. Rather than focusing on fixing or symptom relief, this practice invites clarity, honesty, and remembrance of what is already whole.
We are all joy bringers. This practice begins with me and lives in my home, shaping my family life and flowing into the community.
Sound as Practice
Sound has been used across cultures and time as a way to quiet the mind, move energy, and restore harmony. Working with vibration — through instruments, voice, and silence — allows the nervous system to soften and the heart to open.
For me, sound is a joyful way of creating space. It is a gentle way of tuning into meditation and allowing the body to restore.
Mediation
I practice mediation at the Center for Human Development as a joy bringer, supporting families through child custody and complex relational matters. I was drawn to this work through a deep sense of calling.
My approach is informed by my legal training and by restorative justice principles, which guide how I listen, approach conflict, hold accountability, and support repair. This work often unfolds in the presence of strong emotion and lived trauma, and it calls for steadiness, care, and deep listening.
Availability
My practice lives in my everyday life. At times, members of my family or community find their way onto this path and ask to connect for { P A U S E } inJoy reiki, sound healing, mediation or community restorative justice.
